Who we are
This policy covers uscbf.org and our giving site at giving.uscbf.org, both run by the Supreme Council Benevolent Foundation, Inc. (EIN 23-5252962), Scottish Rite Cathedral, 1514-20 Fitzwater Street, Philadelphia, PA 19146-2123. In this policy, “the Foundation”, “we” and “us” mean the Supreme Council Benevolent Foundation, Inc.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Your name and email address, when you sign up for updates or make a gift.
- Your mobile phone number, only if you choose to give it.
- When you give: your mailing address, your title and Orient if you share them, the amount and date of your gift, and whether you gave by card or by check.
- Anything you write to us by email or mail.
Payment information
Card details are entered directly into a form provided by Stripe, our payment processor, and go straight to Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. Stripe tells us whether the payment succeeded and gives us limited details such as the card brand and last four digits, so we can answer questions about your gift.
Your text-message consent
If you check the box to receive text messages, we record your mobile number, the exact consent wording you agreed to and its version, the date and time, and the page where you agreed. We keep this record to show that you asked for our messages.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting provider, Vercel, keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to run and protect the sites. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate. It does not use third-party cookies and does not follow you across other websites. We do not use advertising cookies or advertising trackers. On giving.uscbf.org, Stripe may set cookies that it needs to process payments securely and prevent fraud.
How we use your information
- To process your gift and send your receipt and tax acknowledgment.
- To record and acknowledge a pledge to give by check.
- To send the email updates you asked for, such as word that online giving has opened.
- To send the text messages you agreed to, as described in our SMS Terms.
- To answer your questions and requests.
- To keep the financial records that the law and good governance require.
- To protect our sites and our donors from fraud and abuse.
How we share your information
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that run our sites and messages for us, who may use it only to provide those services:
- Stripe processes card payments.
- Convex hosts the database where sign-ups, gifts and pledges are recorded.
- Resend delivers our email. Our email is sent from addresses at mail.uscbf.org.
- Twilio delivers our text messages.
- Vercel hosts our websites and provides privacy-friendly visit counts without third-party cookies.
Foundation officers and volunteers see donor information only as needed to do their work, for example to acknowledge gifts and keep the books. We may also disclose information when the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of the Foundation, our donors or others.
Mobile phone numbers and text messages
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties. Your mobile number is used only to send you the messages you agreed to, through our text-message provider, Twilio, which acts on our behalf.
Your choices
- Email: to stop update emails, write to dwayne.e.thomas@uscnjpha.org. We will still send receipts for gifts you make.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any message to stop all texts, or HELP for help. You can also ask us to stop by email. See our SMS Terms.
- Your information: you can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you. We will do so unless the law requires us to keep it, as it does for gift and tax records.
How long we keep information
We keep gift and pledge records for as long as tax and accounting rules require. We keep sign-up details until you ask us to remove them or they are no longer needed. We keep text-message consent and opt-out records for as long as we may need to show what you agreed to, even after you opt out.
How we protect information
Our sites use encrypted connections (HTTPS). We use established providers for payments, data, email and text messages, and we limit access to donor information to the people who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect what you share with us.
Children
Our sites are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top of the page.
